Family & Friends Visit
I mentioned last time how we were lucky enough to have Sam come visit, and then my inlaws shortly after that. Well, we've been so happy to keep the party going with more friends and family coming to town!
First, Tori and Vivi came to see us! We became friends years ago in the Bay Area, and have maintained that connection despite multiple babies and out of state moves and I'm so glad. Friendships and social life has always been so good for my soul, but I am also older and freaking tired and its so nice to have friendships that are easy and already developed and deep. I guess what I am saying is I can already tell that there are some really cool people here-but girrrrl, I am not sure I am ready and willing to put in the work of starting over and being on my best behavior [ie putting on a bra and makeup] in order to make new friends hahaha. Maybe in a few months-but for now, it is what it is! That said, we had SO so much fun. The kids entertained each other to no end, and it was so weird and great to see them so grown up and like no time had passed. We explored here and in the area, and ate, and played and laughed and cried and all the good stuff that comes with that. It was sincerely just what I needed and I'm SO so grateful they made the time to come see us.
We had a week or two in between when my parents came to visit! We literally were counting down the days, and it was fun to hear the kids talk about the things they wanted to show Grandma, and how to avoid Grandpa when he tried to sit on them hahaha. It lived up to the hype easily, when the kids woke up and they were here! We did pumpkin patches and shot apple cannons, baked cookies, went on multiple nature walks, visited some family in the area, played in the lakes, rivers and parks, did lots of games, checked out Main Street, and even built a haunted gingerbread house. It was actually really bittersweet/harder then I expected to see them go.
As of now, that is the end of our streak of visitors. Our door is open though if anyone wants to stop through! And until then, we will do all the holiday things, and keep playing in all the leaves, baking/cooking all the things, and living life in the good, bad and all the in between.
