I suppose its a good thing when you have to do regular catch up posts, because that means you are actually out their LIVING life right? Because right now I feel like those are the only kind of posts I do haha! So bear with me as I come at you with another one of those.

On Mother's Day, I was lucky enough to get another reservation at the exclusive Mother's Day Cafe, complete with a delicious meal, great company and servers, and included babysitting! We also attended church where all the women were showered with praise and goodies-Addy even made me a special treat in nursery, and Lester got me the most beautiful red roses. Fun little fact-when Lester and I were growing up he used to get me flowers fairly often-always yellow roses, because apparently yellow flowers mean friendship. He always said that I was his best friend. Since we've been married he's gotten me lots of flowers, but I don't recall any more yellow roses. I asked him about this and he says its appropriate because its obvious we're best friends, we don't need flowers to say that-but we are lovers too [clearly, two kids later hahahahah!] Sometimes I still wonder how I lucked out so much to get that man! Anyways, it was great day with my BEAUTIFUL girls, and many of the wonderful women in my life!

We also have been keeping busy with the usual zoo trips and life, but also a visit to the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. I remember going when I was younger, but since then it has been renovated and it was amazing! They have everything from an aquarium, indoor rainforest, planetarium, earthquake simulator, kids area, penguin and museum exhibit, whale exhibit, archaeological lab area, and so much more. It was such a fun day, and I loved seeing how much Isla enjoyed watching and touching some of the sea life. It was definitely a must see!

Speaking of Isla, she is so close to walking-she has taken about three steps on her own without holding on to anyone or anything, and I am both excited and dreading the days when those steps multiply. She wants to be involved in absolutely everything now a days, from eating up at the table, crawling/cruising/dancing whenever someone else is, climbing, talking, singing, hiding, playing, you name it, she wants in. It is so fun to watch the world through her eyes-while still a big Momma's girl, she seems to be fearless. Here's hoping those boundaries kick in sometime haha.

Other then that, just the usual life stuff. Parks, walks, visits with friends, block building, unlimited books, playing princesses and dinosaurs, wrestling with Daddy, hanging with family etc etc. Now, more then anything we are just rearing and ready for our upcoming little family vacation, camping and visiting a few national parks-to say we are excited is and understatement haha.

So ultimately, life is just chugging right along, and we are doing our best to enjoy the ride!

A few week ago, our little local beach made headlines when a poor dead sperm whale washed up on shore for no apparent reason. Unfortunately, by the time we were able to make it over there, the necropsy had already been performed, and the poor thing was hardly recognizable. So just a few weeks later, when a baby humpback whale washed up, I told my little family to get bundled up because we were heading over to pay our respects and learn more about the amazing world we live in. It was absolutely fascinating, and I am still in awe of it, as is Addy. It was such a unique experience, to not only see it up close, but touch it and feel what a few days ago had been such a beautiful, living, breathing creature. As silly as this sounds, it makes me appreciate what a gift life is yet again, and see what a fragile and beautiful balance it is to sustain that. I am so blessed to be living my own, full life, and I hope that big beautiful baby whale is swimming with its other whale friend in the great beyond!

[this is from when we visited the first whale, the rest are from the second..]

Speaking of life, we have been living ours. Lester has been able to spend a little more time around the house and with us lately, and it has been so fun seeing how much the girls want to share everything with him. For example, one of Addy's many hobbies is doing face painting and her hair salon [along with building castles and giving doctor checkups]. Daddy booked in advance and got the works when he came in for his appointment. He looked smashing, and so did Addy when he returned the favor.

We also finally got to take him to one of our favorite parks for a quick walk and picnic. Addy was eager to show him her tree climbing abilities, and Isla to show him the flowers she loves to pick. I was eager to sit their and enjoy the sunshine and sit back while he did the running around and fun. Best show ever.

Then of course there was one of our favorite things-the Giants game! We were so lucky to get some tickets from some family over Christmas, and it was the first time for both of our girls. We were floored when we made it onto the jumbo-tron for a while, and loved watching the game, playing at the park, spending time with family, and of course, eating garlic fries and Ghirardelli sundaes. Growing up, I've always been very close to my cousins, and I am glad that even though we are all older now, we can still get together and do things like this and enjoy each other. I love my family!

Now, we are in full trip planning mode as we get ready for our first really big family road trip through Zion's National Park, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. We look forward to seeing more of the beauty this world has to offer and spend some time with some family and friends along the way. Now if we can just get through finals first we will be what Addy says every time she's done with a diaper change..freeeeeee!!!!
