The day after we came back, and we were feeling the distance, our wonderful local library was having a Harry Potter holiday night. This was perfect since we've been listening to them on audiobook, and we were all excited to go. It was awesome! They had a wand making station, a quidditch pitch, potions class and a ton more. I love that my kids are growing up w an appreciation for reading and the library just like I did!
That night, we also had our first ever snowfall. We have travelled for snow trips before, but Addy especially has been praying for snow every night-so it was so magical when her prayers were answered and the world turned into a winter wonderland right before our eyes. We ran through some light tunnels, and stood outside catching snowflakes and letting them melt on our tongues. Then the next morning, everything was covered and bright, and we spent the day playing in the snow, doing all the things we haven't before-snowball fights, snow angels, snowmen-it was perfect and well worth the wait. Best of all, it only stuck around for about a week, which is just right if you ask me haha!
Since then, we've been doing a lot of other fun holiday type things. We've frosted sugar cookies with friends, gone ice skating, visited Santa and sent him our letters, done some more decorating, watched our Christmas movies while snuggling and drinking hot chocolate, done lots of baking, and gone out to see more lights. One of the best we've seen was when an old friend came to visit, and came with us to the Boise Botanical Gardens. They had over 400,000 lights, and some fun interactive things. It was so beautiful, and so special to be able to share it with her and with each other, which is sometimes rare with medical school being what it is.
We also got the wonderful chance to go for a super quick weekend trip for our friend Scotty's wedding in Utah. Knowing Scotty as long as we have, it was so nice being able to be there for this important day, and watching how him and Eliza just beamed. We are so happy for them, and loved the reminder of how precious our relationships are-we'll cherish the memory of that forever. This trip also meant we got to spend some fun time with the Dobbins [the kids were in heaven, and we had a pretty great time too!], Andy Pandy Poo and the Bennings who we love. Apart from going to wedding, we got to spend time looking at the lights at temple square, visit some food spots we'd been wanting to try, do a tiny bit of sledding, show Daddy Deer Hollow Park, and just enjoy being with family. It was such an awesome trip, and we hope that sometime in the next while we can go back for a longer visit, with them, and other friends who live in Utah.
Now, we are just back at it, trying to get everything done, eat more veggies haha, and get everything in before this weekend when we leave for CA for the holidays. It's been the best kind of busy, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
