The Great Outdoors

Living where we do means you get spoiled by the weather-it is pretty consistently in the high 60's year round. So, since we know we will not live here forever [and in an effort to avoid being on devices or the TV all day...] we've made it a goal to try to get the kids outside daily, if at all possible. This has made for a lot of backyard time, day trips and outings with family and friends. I'm gonna write about some of those times and add some fun pictures.
A few weeks ago, it was MLK day, which meant all National Parks were free. So we grabbed Luke and packed ourselves up and headed out ridiculously early. Through out the day, we played and reveled in the many natural beauties that this world has to offer. It was a little chilly, but because of that the park was pretty empty which was great. It was a bit of a long drive for a day trip, but definitely worth it, and we look forward to planning a camping trip there sometime in the near future.
I probably blogged a long time ago, but I have so many memories of playing in our little backyard with all the fun activities my Mom had planned. So when we came home and it was sitting in disrepair and unused, we asked my parents if we could overhaul it and use it for our girls. They obliged, and after a lot of work it is just as beautiful and fun as I remember it. I think we are out there ever single day [weather permitting], playing in the sandbox, or her tent or roaming in the yellow flowers that have sprung up recently. At night, we adults even use it for bonfires. It is pretty great.
We are also in the process of doing a Disney marathon with my family. We are watching the first 50 Disney movies over the course of one year and doing activities associated with it. Its pretty fun, for us and the kids. Last weekend we were on Bambi and so we went to Half Moon Bay and went on a walk above the tide pool where they have gorgeous little forest and paths. It was beautiful and we had fun running around and watching Luke and Addy be little monkeys. As always, it was really fun and were lucky to have them to hang with.
Apart from this we have been doing other fun outdoor activities, some related to our letter adventures [which I will update later], using our zoo pass and other basic things like parks and the beach and what not. So life is good-I feel like being outside is good for the soul, so we will continue enjoy the great outdoors around us.
