Our Adventure Book

If Lester and I were ever to be made into Pixar characters, we would be Carl and Ellie Fredrickson for multiple reasons. Number one, when we met I was as frizzy haired, crooked toothed, stubborn and barefoot as she was, as well as extremely friendly, happy and ready to play. He, on the other hand was more like Carl-painfully quiet and shy, a little bit intimidated by this crazy girl, but equally intrigued, loyal and adorable. Over time, we became best friends, and I imagine our wedding looked much like theirs did in types of guests haha. I hope that our love proves as strong as theirs for the rest of our eternities.

However, one of the ways we differ from them is this. From day one of our marriage, our adventure book has been in the process of being filled. I couldn't help but think about this the other day as I was reminiscing over pictures. I think people have this idea that once you get married, things slowly but surely taper off. We feel quite the opposite!

In our short 6 married years together, we have camped in rocky deserts, snow topped mountain yurts, forests in towering trees, and on sandy beaches. We have canoed and swum down rivers, climbed mountains and played in waterfalls, biked urban as well as remote wonderlands, explored underground caves and tunnels, slid deep down into the earth through ice caves and slides, raced through meadows and fields of flowers, traversed cliffs of ice plants and steep ocean drops, snowshoed and cross country skied, bon fired on beaches and campsites, stargazed, explored lakes, danced the nights away in clubs and out in empty parking lots, gone to concerts and games of all different types, tried foods from all over the globe, hosted a million parties and made friends from all over the world, road tripped across much of this country and so so much more.

[camping and bonfires at Beaver Dick]

[concerts]

People told us that once again, the adventures would stop once the kids came. And although the adventures have changed, our lives and the pages of our book are still being filled, with things we definitely would have missed if they weren't here! If anything, the adventures have gotten more magical now that we have two more enthusiastic companions to share them with.

[tubing, snowmen and snow play in Park City]

[camping, hiking, etc at Crater Lake in Oregan]

[camping, beach play and dramatic sunsets in Kirby Cove and SF]

[Caving at the Lava Beds National Park]

[Camping, hiking, swimming, climbing, hide and seeking, and general adventuring in Zion's National Park and Bryce Canyon in Utah]

[playing in the Lake and riding up the mountain and through the sky in Lake Tahoe]

[sunrise, hikes and fun exploring the Grand Canyon]

[49er's and Thunder's games in Santa Clara and OKC. And of course, our Giants.]

And the crazy thing is, this is just the out of the ordinary adventures-not the ones we take daily and locally living and loving together!

I realise our life isn't the most exciting or exotic to others-but it is full of wonder, excitement, beauty and life. And I love watching the few empty pages of our adventure book fill up throughout the years, and I look forward to very shortly having to add more pages! I am grateful to my husband, kids, family, and friends for making these adventures a reality, and to my Heavenly Father for this beautiful  world that we live in and an able body to experience all these things with. Excited for all the adventures to come!
