Primary Children Around The World Activity

I am lucky enough to get to work with the Primary children's organization of my church. Its been fun getting to know the kids with all their fun unique personalities, and also learn from examples of all the awesome people I get to work with.

About once a month or so we have some kind of activity for the kids outside of the usual Sunday setting. Last month, the whole group went on a tour and learned about the beautiful LDS temple in Oakland, with a quick snacks afterwards. This month's activity was about children around the world-both the similarities and differences in church and outside of it. A lot of work and time went into preparing from the participants-as most of you know, many members of our church serve missions across the world, so we had a lot of experience in several countries to share. It was fun watching the kids in their three different groups go with their 'tour guides' to get their passports stamped in each country [or classroom]. I was super impressed with all the interesting things they got to do and learn! Afterwards, we all got to enjoy nachos before heading off the our regular Saturday activities. It was a blast and I'm so glad I was able to attend/help a little.

All in all they visited 6 different countries! They were:

Canada
[In Canada, they learned some about the blessings of having the temple closer then they used to, and some fun stuff about the Olympics.]

Australia

[In Australia, they got to learn about the Great Barrier Reef, surfing and see a boomerang and some didgeridoos. They got to try Tim Tam biscuits/cookies as well.]

 Hong Kong

[In Hong Kong the kids got to learn about some of amazing educational opportunities kids their age get growing up there. They also learned how to say a phrase-harder then I thought haha! I of course made Addy wear her outfit that my in laws brought her from China haha.]

Argentina

[In Argentina my favorite thing they learned/tried was how to hunt like a Gaucho with a Boleadora. Gosh I'm probably butchering that, but it was fun and the kids LOVED it!]

 Dominican Republican
[Here they learned a bit about their flag, and got to try a traditional food made from a special kind of banana.]

& France.
[In France, they learned about how shopping for food is different, and about how they have Frite forks for eating fries with! Funny! They also got to try some delicious Madeline cookies.]

Here they are getting their passports stamped.

These were just some of my favorite things they learned, but there was a lot more I'm sure. In all the countries, they learned that even though we may do things a little differently, their is a lot to be appreciated and enjoyed everywhere, and that there are things they have in common with children even countries away. It was good times as always, and I am looking forward to the next activity!
